In what cases is the preparation recommended?

  • The active substance of  Béres Vitamin C 100 mg film-coated tablets is ascorbic acid (vitamin C), which is a water-soluble vitamin with antioxidant characteristics. Ascorbic acid is essential for a number basic physiological processes (e.g. hormone production, iron absorption, bones, teeth and cartilage formation, wound healing and the maintenance of adequate capillary patency).

    It can also be used to prevent and treat vitamin C deficiencies (scurvy, Möller-Barlow’s disease).

Béres C-vitamin 100 mg

To prevent vitamin C deficiency: 100 mg (1 film-coated tablet) per day.

To treat vitamin C deficiency: 1-10 film-coated tablets (100-1000 mg) per day for adults and children above 10 years of age depending on the needs and state of health. Maximum daily dose: 10 film-coated tablets (1000 mg).
Its usual dose for children between 3-10 years of age is 100 mg per day.

1.    WHAT BÉRES VITAMIN C 100 MG FILM-COATED TABLET IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR

The active substance of  Béres Vitamin C 100 mg film-coated tablets is ascorbic acid (vitamin C), which is a water-soluble vitamin with antioxidant characteristics. Ascorbic acid is essential for a number basic physiological processes (e.g. hormone production, iron absorption, bones, teeth and cartilage formation, wound healing and the maintenance of adequate capillary patency).

It can also be used to prevent and treat vitamin C deficiencies (scurvy, Möller-Barlow’s disease).


2.    WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TAKE BÉRES VITAMIN C 100 MG FILM-COATED TABLETS

Do not take Béres Vitamin C 100 mg film-coated tablets if
•    you are allergic to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
•    you had or have kidney stones.

This preparation is not recommended for children below 3 years of age.

Take special care with Béres Vitamin C 100 mg film-coated tablets
The intake of higher doses should be considered in cases of tumour diseases and a history of any kinds of kidney diseases.

Taking other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken any other medicines including non-prescription preparations.

Please note that if the total daily vitamin C intake increases 1000 mg it may affect the way particular medicines work (including non-prescription medicines too, e.g. painkillers, laxatives, salicylates, anticoagulants, preparations containing iron, copper and selenium, etc.).
High doses of vitamin C may modify the results of particular laboratory tests, so inform your doctor prescribing a laboratory test that you take vitamin C.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicines.

Animal studies do not indicate any vitamin C related risk to the foetus.
For pregnant women, vitamin C is safe in the recommended dose (100 mg/day), however vitamin C intake in a dose significantly exceeding the daily need (over 1000 mg/day) is not recommended during pregnancy. A study shows that a dose of 1000 mg vitamin C per day taken from the second trimester until childbirth increases the risk of low birth weight (< 2.5 kg).

Vitamin C is excreted in human milk. Vitamin C need is higher during breast-feeding, however supplementation exceeding the recommended 100 mg/day is not recommended.

Driving and using machines
It does not affect the ability to drive and operate machinery when taken in the recommended dose.


3.    HOW TO TAKE BÉRES VITAMIN C 100 MG FILM-COATED TABLETS

To prevent vitamin C deficiency: 100 mg (1 film-coated tablet) per day.

To treat vitamin C deficiency: 1-10 film-coated tablets (100-1000 mg) per day for adults and children above 10 years of age depending on the needs and state of health. Maximum daily dose: 10 film-coated tablets (1000 mg).
Its usual dose for children between 3-10 years of age is 100 mg per day.

Take Béres Vitamin C film-coated tablets until symptoms persist. In case of a disease take Béres Vitamin C film-coated tablets as long as your doctor tells you to do so.

Whenever possible take the tablet with lots of liquid at the end of a meal without chewing it.

If you take more Béres Vitamin C 100 mg film-coated tablet than you should
Taking doses higher than recommended may cause a vitamin C overdose. Symptoms of a vitamin C overdose: heartburn, nausea, feeling sick, diarrhoea.
Ascorbic acid is a water soluble vitamin therefore the quantity exceeding needs is excreted in the urine and faeces. So, if you take too much of the preparation, drink lots of liquid.

If you forget to take Béres Vitamin C 100 mg film-coated tablet
Do not take a double dose the next time because you cannot make up for the missed quantity this way, but you may increase the likelihood of side effects. Continue as recommended.

If you stop taking the medicine
In general, no harmful effects develop when stopping the treatment.

If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4.    POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines, Béres Vitamin C 100 mg film-coated tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

When taking high doses for a long time, mainly if the daily vitamin C intake exceeds 1000 mg – heartburn, nausea, feeling sick, diarrhoea may occur, and the risk of kidney stone formation may increase.

If any of the side effects get severe talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet.


5.    HOW TO STORE BÉRES VITAMIN C 100 MG FILM-COATED TABLETS

Store at or below 25 °C in the original packaging to protect from moisture.

Do not take Béres Vitamin C 100 mg film-coated tablets after the expiry date printed on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
 
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Béres Vitamin C 100 mg film-coated tablets contain

The active substance: 100 mg vitamin C in each film-coated tablet.
Other ingredients: anhydrous calcium hydrogen phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, magnesium stearate.
Coating: „Aqua Polish D yellow 024.20 MS” hypromellose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, talc, medium chain triglyceride, titanium dioxide (E 171), quinoline yellow aluminium lake (E 104).

What the preparation looks like and the contents of the pack
20 pieces of yellow, round film-coated tablets convex on both sides.
